Join Bernie Sanders for a Day of Youth Soccer with Vermont Green
Dear Fellow Vermonter,
Over the past few years, we have been lucky to see some truly excellent soccer being played right here in Vermont. From the UVM men’s soccer team winning the Division I national championship in 2024, to the Vermont Green men winning the USL League 2 Championship last summer and the Vermont Green women playing a historic first season this year, it has become crystal clear that Vermont truly is a soccer state.
And while these victories have been incredible to watch — and we’re seeing more and more people pick up the sport of soccer — it is still a game that we can make more available to our young people. That is why I’m very pleased to announce that my office will be hosting a youth soccer event in partnership with Vermont Green FC. Our very first Youth Soccer Day will be held on Saturday, June 11 from 1 p.m. — 4 p.m. at Virtue Field on UVM’s Campus in Burlington.
The day will include a Learn to Play session for young people who are totally new to the game, as well as some Drills and Skills for more experienced players. Throughout the day, young participants will have the chance to meet and get tips from members of the Vermont Green and their coaches. Young Vermonters ages 6 to 13 are encouraged to sign up and take part — whether you have been playing for years or you’re just starting out.

High school students who are interested in helping at the event can fill out this form .
Please note this event is limited to 300 young people. We ask that you only sign up if you are sure you can attend so that as many people are possible are able to participate.
Soccer is a great way to build teamwork skills, learn to strategize, think ahead and focus. It’s also a great way to make friends and build community while playing a fun game.
I look forward to seeing you on July 11!
Sincerely,
Bernie
