VSA Player Development Opportunities

As we prepare for the start of the 2026/27 seasonal year, we wanted to continue sharing updates regarding the Sporting Vermont initiative. We are incredibly excited about the opportunity to collaborate with our member clubs to provide an additional pathway for Vermont's top identified players to compete, develop, and gain meaningful exposure within high-quality training environments and competitive events.
Our mission is to complement the outstanding work being done by clubs throughout Vermont by creating additional opportunities for our highest-performing players to continue their development while proudly representing Vermont.
2026/27 Open ID Sessions
Registration for the 2026/27 Sporting Vermont Open ID Sessions is still live!
ID Session Dates: August 8–9, 2026
Location: Tree Farm Recreational Facility
These sessions will be used to identify players for all Sporting Vermont programs for the upcoming seasonal year.

Sporting Vermont Programs
Sporting Vermont Juniors (U10–U11)
Our U10 and U11 players will participate in the Sporting Vermont Juniors program. This introductory program is designed to familiarize young players and their families with the Sporting Vermont environment while providing additional development opportunities.
The Sporting Vermont Juniors program includes:
Training and competition on select Saturdays.
Participation in one tournament event.
A player-centered developmental experience focused on technical growth, confidence, enjoyment, and long-term player development.
Sporting Vermont (U12–U17)
The Sporting Vermont program for U12 through U17 players is designed to complement club participation by providing additional high-level training and competitive opportunities.
U12–U14
Programming begins in the fall.
Select Saturday training and competition
Programming concludes during the first week of April.
U15–U17
Programming begins following the conclusion of the Vermont high school soccer season.
Select Saturday training and competition throughout the seasonal year.
Programming concludes during the first week of April.
In addition, all U12–U17 teams will participate in three events. These events are selected to maximize:
High-level competition
Player development
College and player exposure
Meaningful experiences against top competition throughout the region/country
Sporting Vermont U23 Program
Sporting Vermont is also proud to offer U23 Men's and Women's teams for our highest-performing athletes, generally ages 16 and older.
These teams will compete in the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL), the largest professional development soccer league in the United States.
The U23 program provides an outstanding opportunity for Vermont's elite players to:
Train and compete in a senior/adult environment.
Continue their development against experienced competition.
Increase collegiate and future playing exposure.
Prepare for the next level of their soccer careers.
Program Cost
One of Sporting Vermont's primary goals is to ensure that financial barriers do not prevent talented players from accessing elite developmental opportunities.
For all U12 and older Sporting Vermont players, participation in the program is completely free of charge once selected.
The only required expense is the purchase of the player's Sporting Vermont uniform, which becomes the player's property. All remaining operational expenses, including coaching, event participation, facilities, programming, and other costs, are fully covered by Sporting Vermont.
Coaching Staff Announcements
The Sporting Vermont coaching staff for the 2026/27 seasonal year will be announced the week of July 20th, by Sporting Vermont's Sporting Director, Andrew Minnis.
We are excited to introduce another outstanding group of coaches who are committed to providing an exceptional developmental experience for Vermont's players.
